Jack Prelutsky, what kind of poetry does he write?

i know hw writes funny stuff for kids and everything, but i heard somewhere that he writes things that are scary? and what happened in the 1950′s-early 60′s that might influence his writing?

I’ve read and had my students read lots of Jack Prelutsky stuff. I consider most of his stuff great for kids. Every author has something, however, that drove him or her to write in the first place. Check out this bio–Biography is very good at telling the best and worst aspects.
